November 24, 2013 at 9:58am EST The next meeting between the Golden State Warriors and Portland Trail Blazers should be compelling after what took place in Oakland on Saturday night.
A shoving match between Joel Freeland and Andrew Bogut escalated into a heated feud, though coaches made sure the benches did not clear.
Portland’s Wesley Matthews and Mo Williams were ejected from the game, along with Golden State’s Draymond Green. The altercation sparked Portland to a dominant fourth quarter, outscoring the Warriors 32-17 in the period to ultimately win 113-101. Matthews told reporters after the game that ejections “inspired” the Blazers.
“That inspired us. We got better from it, we got stronger from it. Mo and I were continuing to cheer. They couldn’t hear us, but we were continuing to cheer.”
The NBA has not announced any fines or punishment for those involved.
