Basketball Hall of Famer Patrick Ewing says his two Olympic gold medals, NCAA ring were stolen

Basketball Hall of Famer Patrick Ewing revealed Tuesday for the first time his two Olympic gold medals and NCAA national title ring were stolen from his home years ago. He declined to say when the burglary occurred.

“My house got broken into in New York at one point and they stole my medals," Ewing said on "The Dan Patrick Show."

Ewing, now the head coach of his alma mater, Georgetown, said the gold medals from his 1992 Dream Team and the 1984 Olympics were stolen. He said his 1984 NCAA title ring he won with the Hoyas was also stolen but later retrieved when it was put on eBay.

Ewing said in the radio interview he was able to get replacement gold medals after he called USA Basketball director Jerry Colangelo. The 57-year-old felt the burglary occurred because he was targeted for being famous.

"Sometimes it sucks to be well-known," Ewing said.

Ewing played in the NBA for 17 seasons, earning 11 All-Star nods.
